Poynton Sports Club |
This was an initiative by Poynton town council
in conjunction with Cheshire East Council to give local sports and
activity clubs a platform to promote themselves to the public and
hopefully attract new members. In all there were thirteen
clubs/societies exhibiting of which we were the only swimming club.
The day started well at 10am with the Dippers table top display
looking excellent thanks to a lot of effort and resources supplied
by several people. Pictures of our display can be seen here and
credits for the design and production of the stand can be seen
below.
There was not as great an attendance at the event as had been hoped
for by the organisers and attendees but what foot traffic there was
always came to the Dippers stand (was this to find out about the
club or to get a free lollipop !?). By the end of the event we had
received definite interest from two potential new members and we
hope to welcome these as new members to the club very soon.
Despite the poor attendance, the ‘Hope for a healthier Life’ event
should be regarded as a success for the club for several reasons
including :
• It gave us a platform for promoting
the club
• It enabled us to further establish our
links to Poynton Leisure Centre
• We forged new contacts at Poynton and
Cheshire East councils
• We have developed better promotional
material
• We gained valuable experience of what
is needed for these events
• We will be included on a further
website :
www.poyntonsportcec.blogspot.com
• We have a load of spare Chuppa Chup
lollies !!
THANK YOU…
For enabling our attendance at this event, thanks go especially to
Louise Lomas for designing an
excellent new leaflet (which can be
seen on the Dippers notice board at the Leisure Centre) and also for
being principally responsible for obtaining a new flag for the club
which as well as appearing at this event will also accompany us to
galas and training sessions. Thanks also to Alan Cardwell for
providing (and transporting) the display boards we used, to Donna
Martin for printing the display material and to Alec Johnson for
being on hand to answer any in-depth questions on coaching that
might have arison.
